5 Ways Yoga Can Improve Your Appearance.
Yoga helps build a bridge between your mind and body bringing you to a place of harmony and serenity. Whether you are looking to discover new poses or to quiet your mind, yoga practice will provide you with that and so much more, but besides helping you feel better, yoga can help you look better too. Let me count the ways..
Yoga helps Releases Toxins
Yoga helps to stimulate your circulatory system and bring rich oxygen-filled blood to your muscles. It has not been proven whether this process really releases toxins. While we don’t know if twisting asanas (poses) detox our system, there is something else that does. Deep breathing is a large part of yoga, and for good reason, as it helps your body in the detoxification process.
Yoga helps Reduces Wrinkles
The controlled tightening and movements involved in yoga helps tighten your skin, which in turn helps reduce wrinkles and lines. By using and strengthening your muscles, including the ones in your face, they become more limber. Plus, yoga can increase the production of many hormones, including the “stay-young” ones.
Yoga helps Tones your Muscles
Holding a pose may not sound like a challenging thing, but I can assure you that it can be. Yoga always looked easy to me, so I assumed that it was. I had done gymnastics in the past and am in fairly good shape, so on my first day of yoga practice, I thought it would be a breeze, but I was immediately proven wrong. What I learned from this is that yoga is about building up enough muscle to support your weight as you flow smoothly through each pose.
Yoga helps Relieves Stress
Yoga helps relieve stress because it causes your body to release different hormones such as melatonin and endorphins. Melatonin is responsible for regulating your sleep cycle and can make you feel relaxed, which is why people express feeling calm after yoga. There are also many breathing techniques used that stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system which also promotes relaxation and reduces stress.
Yoga helps relieve Anxiety and Depression
Yoga has a whole variety of self-soothing techniques incorporated into it that help to prevent, and decrease, both anxiety and depression. There are specific styles of yoga that work better than others when it comes to mental health. Styles that focus primarily on breathing and mindfulness are more likely to create a feeling of calmness than an active hot yoga class. This is because, like exercising, more active practices release more endorphins, while slower, breath-oriented practices create more feelings of calmness and serenity.
