While it may seem economical to use up all your old skincare products before buying new ones, it’s not the best idea if those products aren’t clean. Clean, in this case, means created with non-toxic ingredients, and while consumers are holding brands more accountable for the safety of the ingredients in the products they buy, many companies are still getting away with what they can get away with due to lack of transparency of information to the public. I say make the swap now.

Why should I switch to clean skincare?
Many toxic ingredients found in traditional skincare products and cosmetics act as endocrine disruptors, which upset your hormone balance. Imbalanced hormones can play host to a variety of health issues.

Clean skincare products, on the other hand, are good for you and the planet, and only contain ingredients that are safe and non-toxic. If you’re curious about what specific ingredients to steer clear of, check out our banned list. All of the products we carry on St. Eden have been vetted for their ingredients and are safe to use.

The Swap
If you’re ready to update your skincare collection, we’re here to help. We’ve compared the ingredients in some popular skincare products sold at your local drugstore with their St. Eden counterparts; From exfoliators to cleansers, serums and skin moisturizers, If you wish to begin the journey of transforming your entire skincare routine, here are my recommendations:

Ditch the Morning Burst Facial Cleanser from Target’s brand, Up & Up. While it may be inexpensive, you’ll pay for it in toxins. This cleanser is just one of many that contain harmful ingredients like parabens and fragrance.

                                                  vs.Non-toxic Skin cleansers

Swap for Citrus Glow by Lila Naturals is a plant-based cleanser bursting with a fresh citrus scent. Made with natural soapberries, it will consistently leave your face silky smooth without any harmful chemicals.

Ditch the Soft Skin Scrub from St. Ives Even though it’s cruelty-free and free from parabens, it still contains artificial coloring and fragrance. Don’t let its label, which boasts, “100% Natural Exfoliants” fool you into thinking this is an “all-natural” product.

.                                                         vs

Swap for this seriously addicting Exfoliating Manuka Mask is a great addition to your skincare routine and will leave your skin feeling soft, refreshed, and invigorated. Plus, its label is 100% transparent.

Ditch the CVS’s brand, Beauty 360, eye serum It claims to be phthalate-free, and formaldehyde donor-free, yet it still contains PEGs, which are known carcinogens, and while it claims to be paraben-free, its ingredients list does not reflect that.
                                  Morning Dew Eye Serum                              vs.

Swap for the Morning Dew Eye Serum This is one of my favorite products on St. Eden because it’s packed with amazing benefits for your skin. Ingredients such as vitamins C & E, aloe vera, and avocado help to firm, hydrate, and soothe skin, while also effectively alleviating dark circles.

Ditch Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Daily Moisturizer. While it’s a popular drugstore option for sensitive skin, it contains parabens and PEGs, which do more harm than good in the long run.
                                                                vs.Romer Moisturizer

Swap for Romer Moisturizer! This lightweight moisturizer delivers instant hydration and energizes dull and tired skin. Key ingredients include Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Hyaluronic acid, and Oat Beta Glucan.
