Other contributing factors include acne, pregnancy, aging, hormonal imbalances, and even prescription medications. The good news is that you don’t have to simply accept dark spots when they arise. There are many natural ingredients you may already have at home, which you can combine to make some seriously soothing face masks that will do wonders for your skin. Below are three DIY face masks you can easily incorporate into your skincare routine that will help you say bye-bye to dark spots.

 

1. Turmeric & Honey Mask Turmeric aids in evening skin tone and may also help reduce the appearance of acne scars. Studies have shown turmeric to reduce dark spots on the skin after just four weeks of use. Honey is a powerful antimicrobial and can work wonders on acne-prone skin by clearing blackheads, hydrating and tightening skin for a clearer complexion.

 

Ingredients

1 tbsp turmeric powder

2 tbsp raw honey Instructions

Mix ingredients together in a bowl.

Use a brush (or clean hands) and apply a thin layer directly to the face.

Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse completely.

 

2. Lemon, Apple & Honey Mask

Lemon contains high amounts of concentrated vitamin C, an antioxidant that has been shown to brighten the complexion by reducing melanin formation. Apples contain phloretin, another antioxidant that helps to prevent dark spots by providing UV protection.

Ingredients

1 whole apple

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp raw honey

 

Instructions

Blend apple in a food processor and transfer the contents into a bowl.

Mix in the lemon juice and honey until combined.

Use a brush (or clean hands) and apply a thin layer directly to the face.

Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse completely.

 

3. Turmeric & Olive Oil (or Yogurt) Mask

For those with other concerns like dry or oily skin, as well as dark spots, you can double down by combining turmeric (dark spots) with olive oil (dry skin) or yogurt (oily skin) into a simple DIY mask.

2 tbsp plain greek yogurt OR

2 tbsp olive oil
