There are several ways to boost your brain health. Some of them include regular exercise, getting enough sleep, and staying mentally and socially active, but it never hurts to tip the scales in your favor even more. If sipping a delicious smoothie that’s also good for your brain sounds like a double win, you’re in good company.

These healthy smoothie combos have less than five ingredients and are easy to whip up whenever you’re in the mood for a little boost of brainpower.

  1. Mint, Mango, Pumpkin Seed, & Coconut Milk: This smoothie packs a punch. Mint, specifically peppermint, has been linked to memory benefits, while mango contains the compounds, mangiferin and gallotannin, known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and may aid in preventing dementia. Pumpkin seeds contain omega-3s, magnesium, zinc, iron, and B vitamins. A powerhouse for healthy brain function. Coconut contains some of the best healthy fats around and is linked to preventing depression and alleviating Alzheimer’s symptoms.
  2. Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, & Yogurt: What better way to indulge your sweet tooth than with a decadent smoothie that’s also good for your brain? Aside from being a mood enhancer, dark chocolate is packed with brain-boosting compounds like flavonoids, antioxidants, and caffeine. Peanut butter is an excellent source of healthy fats and protein, and yogurt is loaded with gut-healthy probiotics, which may be linked to enhanced mood and cognitive function. Add a bit of oat or almond milk to make this smoothie easier to blend and drink.
  3. Blueberry, Banana, Kale, & Cashew Milk: Green smoothies have been popular for years, but this one provides the added benefit of cashew milk, which helps to regulate blood sugar thanks to magnesium, and banana for fiber. What can’t kale do? It’s bursting at the seams with vitamins A, C, and K, beta-carotene, flavonoids, and polyphenols, all of which support brain health. Blueberries are a well-known antioxidant and aid in fighting against oxidative stress. This is a great smoothie to make for breakfast or a snack when you’re feeling a little sluggish.

St. Eden tip:  Each of these smoothies can be made to taste, which is why we haven’t listed exact proportions. Searching for even more brain food? Avocados, oranges, beans and legumes, salmon, eggs, chili peppers, and green tea also support healthy brain function.
